If I Had A Hammer

Ooh, ooh ooh
Ooh, ooh ooh
Ooh

If I had a hammer
I'd hammer in the morning
I'd hammer in the evening
All over this land

I'd hammer out danger
I'd hammer out a warning
I'd hammer about the love between my brothers and my sisters
All, all over this land

Ooh, ooh ooh
Ooh, ooh ooh
Ooh, ooh

If I had a bell
I'd ring it in the morning
I'd ring it in the evening
All over this land

I'd ring out danger
I'd ring out a warning
I'd ring about the love between my brothers and my sisters
All, all over this land

Ooh, ooh ooh
Ooh, ooh ooh
Ooh, ooh

If I had a song
I'd sing it in the morning
I'd sing it in the evening
All over this land

I'd sing out danger
I'd sing out a warning, yeah
I'd sing out about the love between my brothers and my sisters
All, all over this land

Ooh, ooh ooh
Ooh, ooh

Now, I've got a hammer
And I've got a bell
And I've got a song to sing
All over this land

It's the hammer of justice
It's the bell of freedom, yeah
It's the song about the love between my brothers and my sisters
All, all over this land

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

All over this land
Ooh, all over this land
Hee, all over this land, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

All over this land
Hee, all over this land

Kansas City

I'm going to Kansas City, Kansas City here I come.
I'm going to Kansas City, Kansas City here I come.
They got some crazy little women there
And I'm gonna get me one.

I'm gonna be standing on the corner, Twelfth Street and Vine.
I'm gonna be standing on the corner, Twelfth Street and Vine
With my Kansas City baby and my bottle
Of Kansas City wine.

Well, I might take a train, might take a plane,
But if I have to walk,
I'm gonna fly there just the same.
Yeaaaah, Kansas City here I come.
They got some crazy little women there
And I'm gonna get me one.

Well, if I don't leave that woman I know I'm gonna die.
Got to find a brand new baby and heres the reason why:
Ya, ya, ya-eeeee eee, Kansas City here I come.
They got some crazy little women there
And I'm gonna get me one.
Ah - right.

Might take a train, might take a plane,
But if I have to walk,
I'm gonna fly there just the same.
Yeaaaah, Kansas City here I come.
They got some crazy little women there
And I'm gonna get me one.

If I don't leave that woman, know I'm gonna die.
Got to find a brand new baby and that's the reason why:
Ya, ya ya-eeeee eee, Kansas City here I come.
They got some crazy little women there
And I'm gonna get me one.
Yeah, yeah,
They got some crazy little women there
And I'm gonna get me one.

They got some crazy little women there
And I'm gonna get me one.

Lemon Tree

When I was just a lad of ten, my father said to me,
"Come here and take a lesson from the lovely lemon tree."
"Don't put your faith in love, my boy," my father said to me,
"I fear you'll find that love is like the lovely lemon tree."

Lemon tree, very pretty, and the lemon flower is sweet,
But the fruit of the lemon is impossible to eat.
Lemon tree, very pretty, and the lemon flower is sweet,
But the fruit of the lemon is impossible to eat.

One day beneath the lemon tree, my love and I did lie,
A girl so sweet that when she smiled, the stars rose in the sky.
We passed that summer lost in love, beneath the lemon tree,
The music of her laughter hid my father's words from me.

One day she left without a word, she took away the sun.
And in the dark she left behind, I knew what she had done.
She left me for another, it's a common tale but true,
A sadder man, but wiser now, I sing these words to you.

Shame And Scandal In The Family

Woe is me, shame and scandal in the family
Woe is me, shame and scandal in the family

In Trinidad there was a family
With much confusion as you will see
There was a mama and a papa and a boy who was grown
He wanted to marry and have a wife of his own

He met a young girl who suited him nice
He went to his papa to ask his advice
His papa said, "Son, I have to say no
That girl is your sister but your mama don't know"

Hey, woe is me, shame and scandal in the family
Hey, woe is me, shame and scandal in the family

A week went by and the summer came down
And soon another girl on the island, he found
He went to his papa to name the day
His papa shook his head and this time he did say

"You can't marry this girl, I have to say no
That girl is your aunty but your granny don't know

Hey, woe is me, shame and scandal in the family
Hey, woe is me, shame and scandal in the family

Now, he went to his mama and covered his head
He told his mama what his papa had said
His mama, she laughed, she said, "Go man, go
Your daddy ain't your daddy but your daddy don't know"

Hey, woe is me, shame and scandal in the family
Hey, woe is me, shame and scandal in the family
Hey, worries, it worries me, shame and scandal in the family
Hey, woe is me, shame and scandal in the family

Hey, hey, woe is me, shame and scandal in the family
Hey, hey, hey, woe is me, shame and scandal in the family

Sinner Man

Sinner man, has a reputation
Sinner man, known throughout the nation
Sinner man, that's his occupation
Yes, he's a sinner man!

There was a sinner man, who loved and ran away
He had a different girl, for every single day
He used to tell them lies, and alibis
He'd just pretend, and in the end
He'd leave 'em there, he didn't care
Because he was a sinner man! Ha, Ha!

And then he met a girl, as pretty as could be
He thought he'd break her heart, as quick as one-two-three
He didn't realize, her flashing eyes, would hypnotize, did she surprise him
Could she be the girl who stole, the heart of a sinner man? Ha, Ha!

The wedding day is planned, we're happy as can be
The pretty girl was you, the sinner man was me
La-la, la-la, la-la
Repeat it for me everybody!
